connectors needed for flat speaker wire?

I have read some conflicting information regarding whether or not
connectors are needed to install flat wire into my receiver and
speaker components. I have binding post connections on my receiver
and currently spring connections on my speakers (I plan to upgrade
these soon so I may have different connections in the future for the
speakers). Can I stick the flat speaker wire directly into my binding
posts and spring connections without using connectors?

You do not need connectors, in general, with any wire as long as the
bared conductors will fit your connections. Connecters are merely for
convenience and, sometimes, security.
