Default Humax tellys

I remember reading about the Humax 17" LCD iDTV being a good TV. I
notice that they also do a 23" model that I would be interested in and
wondered if anyone here has any experience with this model?

I have the 23" model (since last December) and I've been very pleased
with it. The picture looks pretty good to me. It's not "HD-ready" but
as I only use Freeview and ordinary DVDs that's no real concern for me.
One problem: although the now/next epg is ok and updates pretty much as
soon as you switch on from standby, the 8-day epg never seems to extend
beyond 2 days. This is no great loss for me because I only ever want to
look ahead when recording programmes and that I do with my PVR9200T in
another room in any case. It's annoying, though. Also, navigating the
EPG is relatively slow. Overall, I'm happy with the product, though.

Thanks for that. It will only be a bedroom telly, so EPG performance
and HD ain't important.

I've got the 23" model as a bedroom TV as well. Perfect size for the job.
Lack of HD readiness not an issue since it is only used to watch freeview,
or stuff that is recorded on my PVR9200T via a loftbox.

Good picture/sound, would definitely recommend for a second room tv.

For a couple of years my local retailer has been flogging big Humaxs
with hard disk recorders and 3 tuners (one analogue). He has never
had one in stock to show me as they go out to customers as soon as
they come in. He raves about them - I've never seen one!

I sell Humax's (and quite a few others, so hopefully I am not too
biased). I find them to be very good performers and neat looking as
well.

Most Humax TVs have the usual excellent big, bold menus and EPG etc as
their set top boxes and PVR's but strangely the 23" doesnt. It has the
same EPG layout as the very common (Vestel, I think) one used in so
many freeview boxes. Not too much of a problem but a pity as it is not
quite so good and user friendly as the other one.

The sound on Humaxes is prety good if you take the time to set the
graphic equaliser up properly and then use the "User" option and the
same goes for the picture. Set it yourself and use the "User" setting.

I have found the contrast to be a bit "overblown" on some models,
mostly the 26" and although this makes the picture stand out in a
crowd and look nice and bright, the white areas appear washed out and,
interestingly, no amount of adjustment of the contrast makes any
diference. It appears that the video drive is a bit excessive.

I have sold many and have had no returns.

Note Humaxes tend to be heavier than some, so wall mounts need to be
good!

Well, thanks to everyone for the help. I have now ordered the 23"
model, which now is HD ready. Whether that means anything else has
changed, such as the EPG software, I dunno. Cost £314.
