Default Tivo Desktop Incomplete Transfers

Whenever I transfer a Tivo recording to a PC, the file size is almost
exactly 50% of the estimated size, and when played it jerks, skips,
and finishes in about half the full time. Is this a known problem, or
do I have some arcane setting wrong, or ???

I have two Series 2 Tivo's and 2 networked computers, one running Tivo
Desktop 2.5 and the other 2.4a; one Tivo is a single-tuner model with
a Tivo brand wireless adapter and the other is a dual-tuner hard-wired
to the router.

Computer operating systems are Windows XP Pro Media Center Edition
2005 SP2 and a Windows XP Home Edition, SP1. Results are identical for
all combinations. Windows Media Player 10.00.00.4036 on both systems.

Thank you for looking.

The symptom ONLY appears when downloading Tivo content (such as the
little introductory videos). Downloading a recorded TV program is
flawless. So while it's peculiar, it's no longer a prblem.

Herb shaped the electrons to say:

Well, what's odd is that you can download those at all. They're
supposed to be blocked from TTG transfers. So there must be some bug
that allows you to transfer them, and it isn't surprise they don't
work correctly.

Could that possibly be why I can save amazon unboxed videos to DVD? (those
promo things, I can save to DVD also)...

.... I can't even download the previews .. they're "protected", using
either Tivo Desktop or going directly to the TivoDVR's web server.
(Which I discovered googling around - didn't see it in any of Tivo's
printed or web material. It's MUCH better than Tivo Desktop - it
includes the program descriptions.

Got a series two unit? If so, did you know there is a webserver built in
(when using TTG)? and that you can access your tivo via your home network
and download all sorts of stuff ? Probably what you meant up above about the
TivoDVR web server thing... At any rate, See
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2006/02/15/...your-tivo.html for
more info and a tutorial on how to do it...

Can't tell if it is doing it that way when going thru the back door, or I am
just lucky enuf to have my unit ignore the protection stuff..... (for me it
works on both the front door and back door, so I have no clue if it will
work for you)

As for program guides, I've been using the one at zap2it for a few years
(try http://www.zap2it.com/ and see if it has what you want, I not only get
descriptions, but also an extended 6 hour guide)
