Default Masthead Amp.

I have a feed coming into a bedroom from a masthead amp. This feed is split
at the back of an old sky digibox.

If I put a twin turner PVR into another bedroom for one of the kids will
they be able to watch different programmes on the second turner?

A PVR only has two tuners so that you can watch one and record from
the other, or if it will allow record from both simyltaneously.

There is no way you can use the tuners independently to view at the
same time - unless you are recording one of them.

At least I think that is what you are asking.

Unless there is confusion between a DTT PVR and Sky+ -- DTT PVR's will
happily work with a feed split at the back of the TV/STB (assuming the signal
is of sufficient strength to be split), whereas Sky+ would require a seperate
LNB and cable run.

I suspect like the others, I am a little confused as to the title you have
given to this thread. Are you worried that the masthead amp will
complicate the proposed arrangement? How is it being powered?
What is this splitter you have, Is it an amplifier with two outputs
or a passive splitter, and if the latter do you have enough signal
to stand losing about 4db.

All things being equal the PVR will work the same as it would do
if connected directly to the aerial, and in addition the kids will
be able to view (but not record on the PVR) what ever the
SKY box is tuned to.

Just make sure the RF output on the SKY box is set to a
channel well away from any of the DTT MUXs

Most masthead amp installations already have too much gain, so 4 dB
splitting loss will usually be of little consequence.

The OP will need to ensure either that the split takes place after the
masthead PSU, or that the splitter used passes power on one leg only
(with the PSU in this leg) and is DC blocked on the other leg. Another
possibility is to replace the PSU with one with a built-in 2-way
splitter, such as a Proception[*] proPSU12F:
