I am thinking of taking up Sky's limited offer of HD for £199.
If I record an HD program onto a DVD, will it downscale on a normal DVD player or will it not play at all? I would imagine it simply would not play at all, but just wanted to check first. |

The player downscales HD channels for output via RGB or S-video. Use a DVD recorder which records RGB and you will make very good recordings that way. Only the HDMI and component outputs are used for HD. |

Remember that most channels are still only SD. You do get the impression that some people think the HD box can magically make all channels HD. It can scale up SD to HD and that may be better than letting your HD TV scale them. Nothing is absolute though, you may prefer your HD TV doing the SD scaling, or the HD Box. |

Yeah I know that only the special HD channels will be HD and the rest normal TV. Although if it does some upscaling it would be nice if it attempts to get rid of some of the pixelation on some channels. Thats probably just a dream though :-) To be honest, HD has been furthest from my mind. It started out as originally wanting to upgrade my freesat to the same package as my multiroom, then I thought I would like Sky+ in my room and now I have ended up going the HD route, I figured that if I was going for Sky+ anyway, I might aswell go the whole hog. |
