Default Sony KV-M2141U

Hi I Have a Sony KV-M2141U which used to give a really good pic for a
domestic tv - its fairly long in the tooth and seems to be loosing the
will to live as the degauss seems to have given up, resulting in
colour cast bottom right corner. I would prefer to get it repaired, is
this a viable proposition, or should I get a lcd (sony KDL-32D3000E)
which seems expensive at the moment and likely to drop in price after
I buy 1?
I know this may be a bit of message but would appreciate some advice.

Is there an external loudspeaker situated anywhere near the bottom right
corner?

On some TVs the degauss only works from power removed to TV switched on
and not from just standby to on.

Otherwise you need a rotating magnetic field In similar
circumstances I've used a magnet from the back of a speaker attached to
a bit of string. Wind up the string so when you release the tension the
magnet spins. Whilst spinning hold the magnet fairly close to the screen
and while it is still spinning move it slowly away from the front of the
screen (reducing the magnetic field)

The colour cast may have been caused by an external speaker placed close
to the screen.

Assuming you have moved any speakers etc away from the TV. Switch it
off at the mains switch for some hours and when you switch it on, the
degaussing should clear the problem. However, there could be a couple
of problems:

Firstly the degaussing positor may have failed. Common enough, and
quite cheap to do if you aren't ripped off!

Secondly, I have seen very serious purity errors caused by placing the
TV too close to a steel radiator which seemed to have become quite
strongly magnetised! On one occasion, the rad was on the other side of
the wall, in the next room. Try moving the TV out from the wall.

The Sony 32 gives a good enough pic but the sound on the Toshiba
32C3030 is much better if it is set up well. Good bass for a flat TV
but the treble needs winding right up. Pic is great if you spend the
time to set it up properly.

Thanks for the suggestions, its ok now so I think coming off standby
and using the mains switch did it as suggested.
Cheers - Rog
