Default Does Anyone Have a Mitsubishi Projection TV?

My TV will be 3 years old next month, the TV man was here last week, the
green picture tube leaked onto a board and turns the TV off when you
turn it on,it is going to the shop and the tube sent off to be
resealed, they will try to clean the board,if not that will have to be
replaced..It is possible another tube will leak later,I am having it
repaired one time,if another tube goes I will put it on the street.
Has anyone had such problems with theirs?

Very rare problem with the MGA sets but Samsung, RCA, and AKAI have endured
severe issues with poor seals on their crt coolant chanbers. The only hope
for the board is to have it professionally cleaned, including removal of
components to get at any and all coolant that may have gotten into that
area. Only three years old MGA may actually have a board for it. Have the
reair facility pull the other two crts out and inspect the seals, not that
bit a deal since they are pulling one of them out anyway.

Not a likely scenario at all. The last few generations of Mits CRT sets had
a shield to catch any coolant leaks. It is more likely that the technician
does not know what he is talking about and saw some silicon wetting the
board from heat sink compound on the convergence outputs. I have seen that
many times and it does not cause problems. Post the model of your set and
the symptom if you want some suggestions.

Had the same problem, I have been dealing with a dealer in town and
Mits. for over a year now. I have spend over $300 in repairs to no
avail. They will not stand behind it.
I talked to the salesman that sold me the unit (65" WS 65819)
Projection, $4,500) and says they are aware of the problem, but will
not stand behind it.

I have actually seen people on Craig's List giving these sets away,
Just pick up, listed as a "small" problem, probably could be fixed
cheaply. Does anyone know if there is a class action lawsuit against
this company for this problem?, if not then maybe we should start
one.

I spend $4,500 for this boat anchor, lasted 4 years, what a deal!!!!

The WS65819 has a coolant tray to catch any leaks. Your servicer likely
misdiagnosed your problem and is chasing his tail. I have repaired more
Mits leaks than most techs and have never seen this on a 65819.

If the OP's set is 3 years old, it likely also has the coolant tray. Techs
often mistake silicone grease that migrates out of the heat sink compound on
the convergence chips as coolant and assume this to be the problem rather
than doing some troubleshooting. If it is a coolant leak, the tubes rarely
need to be resealed, as the leaks are usually minimal and once the pressure
is relieved they mostly don't leak again. the cost effective and better
solution is to put a gutter under the CRTs to catch any future leaks. If
the CRTs are resealed effectively, they should never leak. Unless all
threee are done, a gutter is the only sensible thing to do.
