Default what happened to s-video inputs?

I've noticed that many televisions no longer have an s-video input. They
either have composite or component video. But no s-video. Why is this? I
have several devices that output composite or s-video (computer, VCR, LD,
DVD), and the s-video is always so much better looking. It doesn't make
sense that manufacturers would abandon s-video but still include that
crappy composite video connector.

Part of it may have to do with s-video sources. Have you tried to buy
a VCR lately?

They don't come with the two screws for connecting a twin lead antenna
wire anymore either.

s-video is not the same as s-vhs. People all the time confuse s-video

with
s-vhs, even going so far as to refer to the connector as the s-vhs
connector.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-video

From your link:

The situation with VCRs is a bit unusual; the common S-Video connector was
designed for Super VHS VCRs as a high-bandwidth video connection

It could break while you're transcribing all your old VHS tapes to HD.
