Default Digital Tv Question!

So in the nearvfuture all terrestrial channels will be broadcast digitally?
If I buy a TV now that has an analogue tuner in when it all goes digital I
would need a freeview box yeah?
So is it not best to buy a new tv now with digital tuner already built in?
and if so can anyone reccommend a decnet one at 32 inch screen size please?

Cheers

it's only best if you're the tidy type who really hates the idea of a
seperate freeview box.
many people prefer the seperate box as it makes the recording of digital
channels a whole lot easier.

It's also worth bearing in mind that it's cheaper to upgrade/replace a
freeview box than it is to upgrade/replace your telly. Furthermore, I
remain to be convinced that software (firmware?) upgrades to tellies is
anything like as frequent or reliable as upgrades to freeview boxes. Bottom
line seems to be that it is a more flexible and cheaper solution to live
with a set top box than it is a freeview tuner integrated with the telly.
Having said that most (if not all) decent tellies have the said integrated
tuner anyway - and I'm not sure it really adds much to the price.....

Personally I'd go with a seperate STB. You may decide in a few years you
want a different STB/TV and it makes the change much easier.

It is not out of the question that we may get a few HD channels on terrestrial
Freeview, judging by the comments from Ofcom on Wednesday:

"Ofcom chief Ed Richards has said the regulator's engineers have proved
that it is technically possible to add four high-definition TV channels to
Freeview without waiting for digital switchover. Speaking at a Broadcasting
Press Guild lunch on 18 July, Richards said the use of compression technologies
will allow the new channels, and that at least "one or two" broadcasters now
agreed with Ofcom's view." (www.broadcastnow.co.uk)

....However you will definitely need a different STB than the regular Freeview
models.

I agree, but then just about everyone would need a new STB to recieve HD
which will almost certainly be some flavour of MPEG4.
