Default Progressive scan

Are all LCD tvs capable of progressive scan? I have just obtained a
Samsung 19" set and when I set the dvd player to ps I just get a blank
screen.

all lcds are progressive in their display format - although that doesnt mean
they will accept a progressive scan input.
are you using component inputs? - as a rule scart doesnt carry progressive
scan signals.

Maybe that's it. It only has composite and scart inputs. Unless I can
hard-wire a scart connector?

can't see that you'd do that.
no component or HDMI/ DVI inputs and you cant use prog scan on your dvd
player.

of course the screen will do the job anyway so it's no massive loss - but a
good dvd player can read the flags on the disc and do a better job of it.
