You need to press the TV button and then something else ie standby or a number. |

There are two points here.
Firstly you can set the Sky button to simulate a channel number, so with many TV's this also switches the TV on. (only the ones which switch on with a number and slightly fewer do recently) However, Panasonics need the standby (or number button) to be held down for slightly longer than a quick press and the Sky remote doesnt quite produce a long enough signal to actually switch the set on. Interestingly the TV's own handset does produce a long enough pulse. Secondly, although this would not be a problem with the way most Panasonics work, you can cause some TVs to go to a channel number rather than the AV input at switch on when the Sky button is programmed with a channel number or, indeed every time you subsequently press the Sky button. This is, of course, what you want if this is a secondary TV fed by RF from Sky in another room and Sky is tuned on a channel, but not in the main room, where Sky is connected by Scart or, in your case, HDMI. All in all, the thing to do is to press "TV" then "Standby/on" for a second, then "Sky" By the way, if you want to clear the channel number out of the SKY button: Press and hold the "Select" and "Green" buttons until the led flashes twice and then press "Select" Sorry this is a bit long winded but I hope it helps. I have spent a long time experimenting with Sky handsets and hundreds of different TVs. By the way, B+O owners, did you know that "TV" then "Backup" switches most B+O TV's on? |
