Since disconnecting and reconnecting myTiVoyesterday, and a load
more things, I have a weird problem when watching viaAUXon theTiVo
in that the picture either flickers, or everything looks outlined like
a cartoon or it flickers as if it's Macrovisioned - which it isn't as
it happens on all channels - but the recording of the programme is
fine.

I'm not sure if there's some RGB funny business going on but I've
tried turning the RGB options on and off in theTiVoand the Sky box.
My TV is a Panasonic TXW32R4 and it's connected to the same AV1
connection on there as it was before, so with everything being equal
I've no idea what's causing it.

I've tried taking the Sky source from the Sky box's TV SCART and the
VCR SCART, and with different SCART leads but no change.

I thought theTiVoAUXSCART might be ****ed but I'm always gentle
when unplugging stuff and it records and plays back perfectly fine so
it's a very odd problem.

TIA, Dom

Anyone?

I've just checked my TiVo and it's absolutely fine Dom. :-)

I know it might sound daft but have you tried switching absolutely
everything off and then back on again. Cures all sorts of things.

Tried that, alas, but still no joy.

I've posted the problem on Youtube and I sound like a depressed Alan Partridge
when indicating that I'm pressing AUX...

I've cc'd this to a couple of PVR/TiVo newsgroups so hopefully someone may be
able to chip in there.

I think you may be splitting your input to too many destinations without
amplifying it.

I've done the same as before which was to plug the main aerial into the
Freeview, then Sky and then the 4-in-1 amplifier. There's a diagram of sorts
at the link below which leads to a usenet post from October 2002.

There's no change with the SCARTs too, most of which are uni-direction except
for the one between the TiVo and Philips DVD recorder (not the Panny VCR which
I mistakenly wrote in the post) since the DVD recorder feeds back through the
TiVo and to the TV when watching via the TiVo's VCR SCART.

Hi Dom. Hope you have this sorted by now.
It's difficult to diagnose your problem at a distance from the symtoms
described.
My first thought is, that if it wasn't doing it before then something has
changed.
Try going over what you've done with a tooth comb.
Then try taking things out of the loop one at a time to localise the
problem.
The second thing I found a bit hard to follow was why you take the main
aerial through two boxes BEFORE the four way spilitter amp?
Are you relying on RF -out of one to record on the VCR or DVD recorder
rather than scart out/in?
If so it sounds a lot like one of the RF modulators messing with one of the
others.

Unfortunately not.

Does the Youtube link help at all? In case you need it again, it's

Been trying that, but I can't track it down. The only thing different, as
such, is having to unplug it as I had to dismantle it for a brief time and set
it up elsewhere, but it was fine there. However, if I've damaged the unit then
I'd have expected it to be a problem that someone else would've come across.

No, but while I could leave the Sky box out of it from the two, the Freeview
signal is handy to have boosted as I can pick it up on the kitchen TV with the
aerial at the back

If so it sounds a lot like one of the RF modulators messing with one of the
others.

I tried unplugging the RF from the back of the TiVo at an earlier suggestion
but no joy. It worked fine before with everything that way it's plugged
together so it's a real pain that it's not playing ball now.

If it helps, here's the Google post I linked earlier which shows the set-up:
