I am thinking about getting a Sharp AQUOS 46" LCD.
Any opinions on it, good or bad ?

Thanks,

RS

Own the 32" version, happy with functions, picture, features, ETC. Seen the
larger sets and the picture quality looks very good with a "clean" signal
connected to them.

I'm happy with my 52" version. I've had it since February. OTA and DirecTV
inputs. All is well.

Pretty much the same opinion here.

You MUST turn off the stupid backlight variation by switching to (I think)
"user" mode for all inputs (modes are independent for each input, and type of
signal). Otherwise the variation of backlight levels will vary constant level
parts of the picture in a most annoying way. Also turn off the high speed
response features, as they make the screen much dimmer.

Then it looks pretty good.

The banding described on the AVS forums is a little annoying when viewing a
uniform gray screen from off to the side, but all in all, it is probably pretty
good.

The conversion from standard def to the screen's native 1080p is quite good,
and the conversion from 720p is excellent.

Had mine for ~ 6 months now. Love it. Took back two problem Vizios
before deciding enough is enough and bought the Sharp. Cost more but
well worth it.
