Default Is it possible

Hi

I have sky+ in my front room and a Thompson digibox in another part of
the house , this is fed by a single cable from the dish . Can i put a
PVR to the digiox to record
1)one channel and watch another
2)just record one channel but get it to auto record through some front
end software like sky+ ?

As you can tell my tech level is quite limited ..........

no, as you say, you only have one feed.

nope, best you could do it set it like a VCR.

I am assuming that Thomson Digibox means Sky box, not freeview as you
said it is fed from the dish.
A standard Sky box can only receive one channel at a time, so you
cannot record from it and watch another channel from it at the same
time.

One or two HDD recorders (Sony) have an infra red emmitter and can be
configured to take control of the Sky box and use their own EPG for
programming but this is nowhere near as good as using Sky plus (and
still only one channel at a time)

You would be much better off getting another Sky Plus for the 2nd room
(although you will need to run another cable from the dish for it).
Sky "multiroom" now allows you to have a Sky Plus box in each room
for no extra charge. Just the usual £10 for the second box.
