Our site is geared toward the majority of technology buyers aged 35-65
years of age. Not techno phobes and not technical geeks. If you are informed, involved, interested in the Blu Ray vs HD DVD please take a look at our site and provide us with your thoughts and information so we can improve our coverage of this important consumer technology issue. www.notquitegeeks.com |

If you really want to help people you'll follow the lead of
Blockbuster and The Digital Bits and not recommend the inferior HD DVD format to anyone. http://www.homemediamagazine.com The numbers are all there, Blu-ray is holding a 68:32 lead in 2007. More bandwidth, more capacity, more studios, more companies, more consumers; the obvious choice. |

Yes, but you failed to mention other things that BluRay has "more of".....
More expense for the player by a huge margin... More copy protection.... More arrogant studio policies... More frequent changes to firmware / HDCP, perhaps obsoleting your BluRay player entirely... Take a look at the present releases from Sony Entertainment Pictures on standard def DVDs to get a glimpse of their BluRay HD futu They are loaded with ever-"improving" AARCOS protection which fills the disk with bad sectors and leaves a remaining bit rate for the movie of about half the available encoding rate (4 Mbits/sec) even though stand def disks should / can deliver over 9 Mbits/sec. Wonder why the newer standard def disks they release look so soft? Simple answer: Sony wins big if they simultaneously protect their disk and motivates / forces you to get high def if you want a decent picture. I, for one, say that the rootkit mentality and non-consumer focused attitude of BluRay makes me sick, and they certainly have much "more" of this than HD DVD as well. Wow, I see that in the mac groups, you show no taste, and now in a DVD group you show you are blind... Both HDDVD and Blu Ray look much better when loaded with disks that actually took advantage of the format. |

You know that not all the HDDVDs and Blu Ray releases are taking advantage of the format. Hell, I'd say the majority of them don't For Blu Ray, with all that space, there is not excuse for not having 7.1 LPCM audio on them, and the video should be almost as eye-popping as the demo disks the stores use. For HDDVD, TrueHD should be on all of them, ditto on video, same as Blu Ray. Shame the studios aren't doing that. Along with prices, I think that is another factor in the low acceptance in the consumer market. |

HD TV channels bury the HD DVD's i've watched. I'm not gonna say it's mind blowing just because I paid too much for a high def DVD player. I'm not a mactard. |

Good lord, with rare exception my HDTV channels aren't even close to the visual quality of HDDVD and BluRay. Of course, I guess you're getting those HDTV channels via OTA? 'Cause if your getting them from Satellite, they've been compressed to hell and gone... |

People are sick of all the changing formats. The'll buy if the player plays all the formats and costs $100. Besides, the future's in downloading content. HD/BluRay is already a dinosaur. |
