Default Top BBC boss fired for being an idiot.

Lord Turkey Cough said the following on 12/06/07 16:27:
Why are the BBC transmitting pictures with an black bar at the top
and bottom?
This seems an insanely stupid thing to do.
If I wanted an ugly balck bar on my TV I could put one on
with a piece of black sticky tape, but obviously only someone who
was completely insane, a spoon short of a dinnerset, would do that?
So why do the BBC and some ITV do this?

Because they have more sense than one of the old film channels which
shows wide-screen films in wide-screen but reduced in size so that there
is a great big black border around the whole thing.

probably so that you can see the sides of the picture as shot.

Would it not make more sense to shoot the frigging picture so that
it was big enough not to leave a GREAT BIG FU*KING UGLY
BAR AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM. Not that I want to point
out the F*CKING OBVIOUS though.

HOW IN GODS NAME TO A GREAT BIG BUNCH OF COMPLETE
MORONS GET TO RUN A TELEVISION COMPANY?

No that's a load of rubbish, it does not explain it at all.
Do you understand the question?

Err... is "Deal or No Deal" a film? Or Am I missing something?
Was not aware Eastenders was a film either.

Think how much electricity they could save by not transmitting all those
black pixels , eh , half wit?

None? Is black not *transmitted* at high modulation and white low?

Yep, 'negative' modulation is used for our, and most other countries
analogue TV transmission.
