Default Audio Problem - Please Help!

I am connecting an optical audio cable from my Samsung HDTV to my
Kenwood receiver's optical audio IN port. I have surround sound set up
properly, with 2 fronts, 2 rears, 1 center, and 1 subwoofer.

For some reason, sound is only coming out of the center channel, with
the other speakers producing just a wimper of sound.

Any ideas?

Your TV's audio settings are wrong.

You're probably set up to listen to the SAP.

I think the TV may not be spitting out the right audio. Check for a
setting that activates the optical audio out port (which may or may
not turn off the TV speakers). Also, check to see that the source (the
TV show) is a digital show broadcasting in surround sound.

Cable/Satellite?
If this is OTA can't help BUT if any of the above the optical audio needs to
come from the "box" to the Kenwood to produce dolby digital 5.1/7.1 etc.etc.
You can set the Samsung sound off or turn it down below 0. I turn mine down
so that my wife can use TV sound when doing PC stuff on the Sam.
