Default OT SCART Question

Not strictly Sky - but there are quite a few with it people here.

Setting up a TV for my father in law. He has one SCART socket on each
of TV, DVD player, VCRs x2.

He bought an electronic auto switching SCART box. Today I connected it
up and it mostly works. Both VCRs and the DVD will automatically switch
the TV to EXT etc. However the DVD comes through the box in black and
white only. I tried each of the cables directly and they work in
colour. I tried it in each of the inputs. I removed the VCRs. But to
no avail. Why should the DVD not work properly when the VCRs do?

Thanks for any serious comments - of good witty ones!

The DVD player will probably be outputting RGB, whereas the Sky
probably won't be unless you've set it to do that, and the VCR almost
certainly won't be.

So the SCART box/switch does not have the RGB lines connected? ie. I
need to change settings on the DVD. Could make sense. Thanks

Not all scart switchers are made equal. You want one which will switch RGB
and s-video, not just composite. S-video shares the use of the composite pin
for it's luminence signal. So if only the luminence is switched becuases
it's a composite only switcher then all you get is black and white from that
source.
