Scart connections for TV, DVDR, NTL, VCR

Hello,
I currently connect my Sony RDR-HXD560 Line 1 to my TV and Line 3 to
my VCR. I am considering plugging my recently retired Pace NTL set-top
box (STB) back in (or asking for a newer Samsung? version) and getting
the Virgin Free TV service so I can use the TV On Demand.

How would I connect the STB? Please advise me! Here is a link to a

Loop the STB through either your DVD recorder, or VCR?

The STB should go into Line 3, as this means that you can record from
Freeview whilst at the same time watching the pictures from your STB
in full RGB quality by toggling between the two using the DVD/TV
button on the DVD recorder remote. This is how my Virgin box is
connected and it works fine.

If the STB has a second SCART output, you could connect this into your
VCR and then the VCR back into another input of your TV or into Line 2
or 4 on the DVD recorder, depending on what you're wanting to do with
it...
