Default Optical Cable - Walmart

My a/v system is getting full and I need more connections between
components, so for the first time ever, I need to use a fiber optic
cable. Where to get one?

Answer: Walmart!

They have two versions. For $16 you get a 3 foot clear shielded
fiber and for $22 you get a heavier duty thicker black shielded fiber.

Problem solved.

True, problem solved. But at what price?

Walmart : 3 ft for either $16 or $22

www.monoprice.com : 6 ft for $3.47

Decisions, decisions... ;-)

Of course, you have to wait a few days to get the one from monoprice.

Or you could pay several hundred dollars a meter at the high end audio
store!

Yeah, I did the Walmart thing. Only in Canada, they only had Optical
Audio cables meant for Xbox 360, which seem to work just as well as
the $50 Futureshop version....
