I have just taken a major pay-cut at work and I was wondering if I phoned
sky to cancel my subs would they try and tempt me to stay by lowering my
monthly fee or would they just let me cancel it and then pester me later
with 'come back' calls ?

How much constitutes a significant pay cut?

Possibly. Why not ask them? Anyone could say yes on usenet - but wont
mean diddlely to the droid you get through to.

One thing is fairly sure though - they will try to tempt you with free
sky+ That currently seems to be the standard offer on the table at the
moment. (Its what they offered me - and I declined - being cut off on
June 20th - and apart from the kids stuff - for the kids - I'll not
miss it.) The only stuff I would be interested in, that sky show - I
can watch before they air it!

Anyway - unless you tell them your predicament, you'll never know!
Good luck!

I've been thinking about a planned pay cut and just wondered what someone
thinks is significant.

Its significant to me, and it wasn't planned it was forced upon me by my
employer. I cant understand though, why someone would take a *planned*
paycut that sounds just plain silly

But since content of your question may be readable differently from how it
was meant to come across I will give you the benefit of the doubt, I'm
dropping £600 a month
