That's a bummer, I put a 160 into mine, think sky will enable it if you
ask them ?

Why do you want it? I can't think of a reason for it at all. Does anyone
actually use it? I don't understand what benefit it is meant to be either
for me or Sky. Anyone able to explain the advantages for me?

TIA

It makes the uninformed think they have VOD!

Same here (with the advantage of no DOG or ads) although I do record it
anyway, as I don't trust anytime to do so regularly :-)

Default Another Sky Anytime Question

this seems to be the answer to a problem I have, fisrt the sky + 'failed to
record' halfway through a programme giving disk full as the reason even
though it seemed there was lots of space. Then the box started switching
off during the night. I am insured so called them and they said sky is
updating certain boxes during the night and while this is ongoing they will
switch off.... They advised me to switch off the supplly, press the 'backup
button, and switch on, holding the backup button till all four lights were
lit. A message then appeared on the screen sayin something like backup in
progress do not switch off the supply, could take up to 10 minutes, it was a
bit less. BUT the box still switched off during the night. I did forget
to mention about the fail to record on the phone, but decided to leave it
for a bit but as I'd just done a housekeeping I decided to wait till it
fails again and call then.
In light of this thread 2 questions
1)is the update causing loss of hard drive space, and therefore fail to
record?
2)is there any way to tell how much actual recording space you have left.
Mine is definitely not one of the large hard drives but it has a usb port
next to the card slot and this was the criteria the support person used to
decide the fault was with the upgrade to anytime..
Too long winded? My apologies

because the newer ones have a far larger hard drive.
the older sky+ boxes simply don't have the space.

I thought mine was the newer version (thomson silver buttons on RHS,
green
circle in middle) but still no anytime

Thos box's which support Anytime have always had "reserved space" which
isn't available to users. So the so called 160GB SKY+ has actually got a
300gb drive fitted.
