Default Broken LCD TV? Blacks appear as green

I have a Digihome 26" LCD TV that I purchased a couple of weeks ago.
It's been working fine but now after I watch for 15-20 minutes all the
blacks in the video start turning green. Eventually every color
that's supposed to be black is now green and it's unbearable.

I don't think it has anything to do with the feed from the cable or
DVD player since they're all channels are the same. I've looked at
the TV settings and there's definitely no setting to fix this.
Sometimes I can just turn the TV on and off and that'll temporarily
fix the problem. Lately I've been having to smack the backside of it
and that seems to fix it temporarily too.

Do you think it's just a loose component inside that I could repair
myself? Any ideas what piece it might be?

Thanks for your help.

Since it is obviously under warranty, why not ask the manufacturer or
dealer?

Only a couple weeks old ... return it. Don't open it and void your warranty.

Well, actually I bought the screen used so I'm not even sure it's
under warranty any more. What are my options?

If the set is out of warranty and you can not live with it as is then the
only option I can see is to get a new one.

If it is out of warranty, you should at least call Digihome (?) and
see if they will cover it. Odds are against this, obviously, but if the
TV is less than 1 year old, they may be willing to fix it. If hitting
the backside fixes it for a short time, this suggests the problem is
with a loosely seated board or component. If you have some technical
skills, UNPLUG the TV, wait at least 5 to 10 minutes for any capacitors
to drain, and then take off the back cover. Look for for anything that
may have worked loose. Be careful in what you touch!

My friend had a 2 year old Samsung LCD monitor that was doing the same
thing. We opened it up, and it was pretty obvious what the problem was.
There was a plug that was only partially pushed into the socket. We had
it fixed in 2 minutes, but we were kind of shocked how crappy it looked
inside. Poor soldering, wires taped together with that strapping tape
stuff that oozes adhesive after a few months. We hit all the bad looking
joints we saw, and it's been working great since then.

WGAF.

Take the thing back to the store for an exchange
or refund.

Geez. The store and manuf. warranty should have
been included in the price of the product
unless you bought if off the back of a
white van along with big speakers.

In, that case get out the Philips or flathead
and start looking for loose wires. Oh, and
don't forget to unplug it first.

Even in cheap components, poor soldering is pretty unusual. Most of
these things are flood soldered. IOW, the whole underside of the
board is dipped in molten solder.
