It is based on unconfirmed reports - nothing official - although
seems more likely than previous rumours.

July is certainly not confirmed.

Do you think they are looking to scrap the basic digibox and
gradually move everyone over to Sky+?

I am sure that is the plan, especially as they have the 'VOD' service
up and running now.

That's the Sky "we'll download it to your Sky+ box over-night" Anytime
then? :-/

Exactly how is that *on demand*?

True, but the best you can get with a one way system.

that has been the plan for a while - only hampered by the general
unreliability of the sky+ box (Siralans especially).

Sorry. Neglected to say if you sign up now they'll put a £20 credit on
your account to cover the usual £10 charge for may and june
Where did you get that from? The website still says £10 a month.

It certainly is. I have this information because sky 'winback' team
called me and stated the above as fact, and i signed up.

yeah, they would never lie to get a sale.- Hide quoted text -

I am sure the 'please come back' callers are sometimes economical with
the truth, but I have no reason to disbelieve them in this case. They
paid the £10 for the next two months until the fee is rescinded as a
credit onto my account. Why would they do that otherwise? If people
are suddenly charged £25 on their July bill the **** will hit the
fan.

To clarify. I know this deal is doing the rounds and I am not suggesting
that those like you on the deal will get billed - just that the timing of
the dropping of the fee for all existing customers might not be fixed as
July.

There are a lot of details that need to be resolved in an official press
release. Not least if it will affect freesat viewers who currently only pay
£10 for the recording functions.

I dont think that £10 is being dropped. I think they are just removing
it for any subscription pack. If indeed it is dropped totally I will
cancel my £15 a month sub! That would be a result!

If it is true, then I hope I can get a free upgrade to sky+ (been a
customer since the 80's), otherwise I will still with my standard sky
box

No, I too think they will keep the £10 and try and convert some of those to
£15 2 mix packages - although I have a nagging suspision they will cancel
the £10 option all together (getting CS to aknowledge it was already a
struggle).

Well i'm on a one month rolling contract, so if they cancel it
alltogether they'll lose their £15 a month. I cant see it, but you
never know. The plan of course is to try and flog HD boxes and the
extra £10 sub that goes with that

Do you think they are looking to scrap the basic digibox and
gradually move everyone over to Sky+?

I am sure that is the plan, especially as they have the 'VOD'
service up and running now.

That's the Sky "we'll download it to your Sky+ box over-night"
Anytime then? :-/

Exactly how is that *on demand*?

Hence the inverted commas!

Didn't mean that to sound like a dig at you, 'cos it wasn't. :-)

No offence taken, I too was taking a dig at Sky's pathetic 'VOD'
service by means of the inverted commas
