Noobie looking for into

Ok I'm a noobie to HD. I've done my homework in the years gone by
about NTSC & PAL, Beta, (S)VHS, LD... ect ect. All the old stuff &
resolutions from days gone past including HiDef LaserDiscs. Now I
wanted to wait for the format war to be settled or come to a truce but
I'm too impatient. I need an introductory level site to current HD,
480i, 480p, 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p all that stuff. I'm not a baby
and all I can find with search engines is "such and such looks better
than DVD" or stuff that's beyond what I have learned.

Can someone point me to a good site at my level? I am NOT looking for
something based on disc formats, just straight resolution info that
can mention discs formats but not as a main topic preferably.

I admit I should have looked into this early in the game and not
waited. Hopefully you can help me catch up.

Try http://www.hdtvprimer.com/ for a start. They have a lot, and
links to other sites.
