Hi
I recently bought a 50 inch Vizio plasma tv. At first we saw diagonal lines on the screen. We don't see them any more, but we haven't done anything to fix it, so I assume they're only visible under certain conditions. Are diagonal lines something that should be expected? Is there any more information I can provide? Thanks. David |

Under what conditions do you see these diagonal lines? What video
source are you viewing when you see these lines--cable TV, DVD, satellite? These lines indicate a faulty ground loop somewhere. I can't reproduce the diagonal lines, so I'm not sure when I see them. It was just standard tv shows. When we did see the lines, it was only with regular cable tv. They didn't appear when we were watching the DVD. Sorry I don't have any more information. It happened fairly regularly when we first bought the tv, but lately (its only been a week), we can't reproduce it. |

We're going to upgrade the cable box to one that support hdtv and uses the hdmi cable. Thanks. |

There's a bad ground somewhere in the cable, and it's not necessarily
within your house. It could be a neighbor. I would *think* that a digital cable box would solve the line issue, but the bad ground may cause other problems on your digital cable box. Keep an eye out for anything that looks amiss. It sounds like its not a problem with the tv then. I mostly wanted to make sure that the tv is ok before the 30 day (store) warranty runs out. I'll be picking up the hdmi cable box this week. Hopefully that will solve all of the problems. I'm curious about the hdmi cable box. Is the picture significantly better than with the regular cable box? Thanks. David |

I've been seeing the same effect. Diagonal lines on some over the air
programs, mostly HD not on SD, with certain background colors like brown, gray or light blue. Based on the "ground loop" response, I unplugged the plasma TV from the power block with surge protector and plugged the TV directly into the wall. It's been three days now and no diagonal lines. wrote: Hi I recently bought a 50 inch Vizio plasma tv. At first we saw diagonal lines on the screen.
