Default ITV/C4/Five HD plans?

Anybody know what plans ITV, C4 and Five have for launching HD versions of
their channels?

Also, are HD versions of these channels still being trialed in London on
DTT?

For ITV probably none. One of the largest independant suppliers of progs
for ITV recently re-equipped with SD cameras. Which will be expected to
have a roughly 10 year life.

Only the BBC HD channel remains on DTT, and that ends on the 31st May.

Although that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Years ago LWT re-equipped
with new Black and White cameras in 1968, one year before the launch of
colour. ITV will go HD when they have to because of the competition, and
they'll probably throw money at it at the last minute.

Okay. The trial of the BBC HD channel itself (not sure which platform they
were talking about, if any) has been extended, so it should still be
available on satellite at least.

AIUI The London Studios (aka LWT) are thinking very seriously about
upgrading to HD soon, not least I suspect because quite a few BBC
programmes are made there.

I don't know that story, but perhaps colour cameras were impossible to get
there and then or they hadn't decided which make etc to go for due to
impending developments. Not so in the case I've mentioned.

Unfortunately it's not just a question of paying and throwing a switch.
The whole infrastructure of programme making has to be upgraded.
