Let's do a test. Last night's TV, from 6pm to midnight.

BBC1

6.00 News

Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

We've already heard from Sir Patrick that it's being presented by bimbos
who
can't speak proper English. So its for women at the exclusion of men.

Even if we agree with Patrick Moore's criticisms of the presenters, why
would a woman want to watch a bimbo who can't speak English any more
than a man would?

Because that's what women do. Bring back Kenneth Kendall and Richard Baker
is what I say. Even Newsround has been dumbed down by women presenters.
Bring back John Craven.

6.30 Regional News

Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

Has always been directed at women and is unwatchable since unless its
news
about my town its totally irrelevant.

The regional news is more likely to have an article about your town than
the national or international news, so by that argument it's *more*
relevant.

Nope. If it was something important it would be on the national news.

And even if we agree with your claim that it's totally irrelevant, how
does that mean that it's always been directed at women?

I want to know what my local council is doing to sort this town out not if
somebody has a duck that can ride a skateboard.

9.00 CCTV You Are Being Watched

Topical documentary. For men, women, and everyone else.

Programme for idiots.

Women's programme again.

Even if we agree with your diagnosis that it's "a programme for idiots",
how does that make it a "women's programme"?

Because that is the kind of intelligence bracket that most women fall in.
Gossip, gossip, gossip. It's the same the world over.

10.40 One Foot in the Grave

Repeat. Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

Women's programme dealing with women's issues.

Either you're even more out of touch with popular culture than I am, or
you're trying not to be taken seriously here.

It was a programme mainly for women. Gossip, gossip, gossip.

[and several more programmes, dismissed either with arguments presented
above, or with...]
Women's programme.

Well if you're not going to bother putting forward a half-arsed
argument, then neither am I.

[snip lots more of the same]

I've been trying to avoid this cheap insult that lots of others have
already thrown your way, but as you are now insisting that most women
are idiots who do nothing but gossip and watch ducks on skateboards...

You don't actually *know* any women, do you?

Are we talking about the same programme here? The sitcom in which
Richard Wilson (the doctor in "Empty Child") plays the part of Victor
Meldrew, an old man who keeps suffering unbelievable strings of
coincidences and bad luck?

Because women like looking at bimbos more than men do? If they're
lesbians, maybe...

It's what women do. They want to talk about the necklace Fiona Bruce is
wearing and her dress and Natasha Kaplinski's hairstyle and how much make-up
so and so has got in.

6.30 Regional News

Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

Has always been directed at women

Please explain.

Skateboarding ducks. Trivial women's things.

and is unwatchable since unless its
news about my town its totally irrelevant.

The question is whether or not it's directed at women, not whether or
not it's directed at people who live in your town.

Twaddle.

8.00 Holby Blue

Cop show. Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

Never heard of it. Anther casualty spin off I presume, so soap.

Women's programme.

Only nominally a Casualty spin-off. It was created by Tony Jordan who
gave us Hustle, Life on Mars, etc. Not especially targetted at women.
Try watching it and see for yourself.

It's a women's programme though and though and I have no intention of
watching another pile of soap. Give me Starskey and Hutch and the Dukes of
Hazzard any day.

9.00 CCTV You Are Being Watched

Topical documentary. For men, women, and everyone else.

Programme for idiots.

Women's programme again.

Women=idiots?

You said it.

10.35 Imagine...

Arts documentary. For men, women, and everyone else.

Another boring idiotic documentary on John Lennon.

Women's programme.

Wrong. Nothing to do with John Lennon at all.

Well what's it about then. Women can't imagine their own ideas, so give them
something to imagine about. Idiot title, idiots programme.

That's lots of news, plus Holby Blue and two documentaries that are
definitely not aimed at just women. So, a very slight tendency
towards programmes aimed at women last night. But now look at
tonight...

Every single programme was a women's programme. There was nothing in
the schedules whatsoever for men of for a family audience. It was all
unwatchable garbage for the unintelligent.

Women=the unintelligent?

You said it.

7.00 Demolition!

Documentary. Not seen it, but it sounds like it's directed at men

Nope. Its another idiots DIY programme for women.

Women's programme.

From the description, it's footage of buildings being knocked down. (A
pub in Nottingham and a hotell in Torquay.) It's dumbed-down TV, but is
it really a women's programme?

It's even worse than I thought.

Women's programme.

7.30 The Green Green Grass.

Sitcom. Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

Repeat directed at women.

Explain.

It's about relationships not situations.

Women's programme.

8.30 Car Wars

Documentary. Not seen it, but it sounds like it's targeted at men.

Nope. The programme that is on is Traffic Cops.

According to the Radio Times, it's 'Car Wars'.

According to the EPG its Traffic Cops.

10.35 Lottery Draws

Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

Totally unwatchable and insulting to ones intelligence.

Women's programme yet again.

Women=the unintelligent, yet again?

You said it.

10.40 One Foot in the Grave

Repeat. Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

Women's programme dealing with women's issues.

Please explain.

Gossip, gossip, gossip. All gossip.

Women's programme.

11.55 Film: Disturbing Behavior

I assumed last night's thriller was aimed at women, so to play fair
I'll give this one the benefit of the doubt and assume it's amied at
men.

Nope. All thrillers are directed primarily at women.

No action therefore its a women's programme once again.

Any programme without 'action' is a women's programme?

Any programme which is not Indian Jones, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, James
Bond, Harry Potter, King Kong, War of the Worlds, Count Dracula or anything
from these kind of genres is a women's programme.

All thrillers are directed primarily at women because only a person as
feeble and uneducated as a typical woman would not realise how stupid the
characters are reacting to the situation. No real person would behave that
way.

Lets have some intelligent drama shall we along the lines of Aeschylus,
Sophocles, Euripides and Shakespeare.

I WAS going to say something about your outrageous comments and assumptions,
but having read through your posts a couple of times, I can only make two
possible conclusions:
1) You are a total nutter!
2) You are perfectly sane, and are just having some fun winding up some of
the other people in this NG...

Either way, there is little point in trying to argue rationally with you, so
I'm just going to sit back and enjoy reading this thread as it unfolds...

Never heard of it. Anther casualty spin off I presume, so soap.

Women's programme.

Only nominally a Casualty spin-off. It was created by Tony Jordan
who gave us Hustle, Life on Mars, etc. Not especially targetted at
women. Try watching it and see for yourself.

It's a women's programme though and though and I have no intention of
watching another pile of soap. Give me Starskey and Hutch and the
Dukes of Hazzard any day.

You're quick to condem something you haven't even watched.

Programme for idiots.

Women's programme again.

Women=idiots?

You said it.

Most women are idiots. But most men are idiots too. Most people are
idiots, no matter what their sex.

10.35 Imagine...

Arts documentary. For men, women, and everyone else.

Another boring idiotic documentary on John Lennon.

Women's programme.

Wrong. Nothing to do with John Lennon at all.

Well what's it about then.

Gilbert and George. (BTW they're not women, just in case you copuldn't
guess from their names.)

Women can't imagine their own ideas

No wonder there's no such thing as women authors. Oh, wait, no, there
are...

Every single programme was a women's programme. There was nothing in
the schedules whatsoever for men of for a family audience. It was
all unwatchable garbage for the unintelligent.

Women=the unintelligent?

You said it.

And what about all the unintelligent men?

From the description, it's footage of buildings being knocked down.
(A pub in Nottingham and a hotell in Torquay.) It's dumbed-down TV,
but is it really a women's programme?

It's even worse than I thought.

Women's programme.

Women like footage of buildings being knocked down? Sounds more like a
programme aimed at those unintelligent men.

Remember the episode of the Simpsons, where Bart and Homer are watching
'When Buildings Fall Down' ('That was cool! The best bit was when the
buildings fell down!') and Lisa can't believe they're enjoying such
rubbish...

7.30 The Green Green Grass.

Sitcom. Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

Repeat directed at women.

Explain.

It's about relationships not situations.

In what way?

Totally unwatchable and insulting to ones intelligence.

Women's programme yet again.

Women=the unintelligent, yet again?

You said it.

Thanks for reminding us why feminism was a good thing.

10.40 One Foot in the Grave

Repeat. Directed at men, women, and everyone else.

Women's programme dealing with women's issues.

Please explain.

Gossip, gossip, gossip. All gossip.

Can you give examples? I don''t recall much gossip in the series.

Lets have some intelligent drama shall we along the lines of
Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides and Shakespeare.

And women don't like Shakespeare now?

Oh Chris, you just quoted 211 lines of post to write 6 words at the
bottom. Is there no snip function on your reader?

I can only assume following this thread that Chris is short for
Christine. :-)

Was going to quote the whole thread again,
