Support and customer service seem fairly nonexistent for Westinghouse Digital products. yeah some of the customer reviews weren't so good huh? |

Beware of Dvorak, he's been one of HDTV's noisiest and most offensive enemies. |

I get the impression from the Westinghouse reviews that they don't stand behind this product at all. Which is really a shame; with such an iconic brand (I'm sure everyone recalls who George Westinghouse was - The developer of AC current?) you'd think they would be a little more discriminating with whom they licensed the trademark to. Agree! |

However, what distinguishes a good buying experience from a potentially disastrous one is how well a product is supported. A_C I smell a writer who has been given a hefty manufacturer payoff. |

The main appeal for me is that it is just a monitor and isn't loaded with money wasting crap like HD tuners, cablecard support, etc, etc. I'm gonna get my HDTV signal from the cable box anyway, and actually I use it as a computer monitor 90% of the time rather than watching TV. |

It's on about five hours a night. But I had trouble getting good service on a Sharp DLP here--no telling what would happen should this one need repair. But so far, so good. (1) Dvorak has been the least informed and least informing tech columnist for decades. (2) But I've been very pleased with my Westinghouse LVM-37w3. (3) But neither have I lined it up with other displays, calibrated them all and compared them. (4) And it is true, support seems "minimal". Luckily I haven't needed support. (5) The upcoming TX series adds grayscale color adjustment and a firmware update usb port, which would be welcome improvements. -Bill -- Sattre Press Tales of War http://sattre-press.com/ by Lord Dunsany http://sattre-press.com/tow.html |
