Having seen Sky and Virgin's EPGs I am slightly disappointed with the
Sony/Freeview alternative. I liked the fact that the EPG only took up about a third of the screen so allowing you to watch a programme on the current channel and simultaneously browse through the EPG. My Sony's EPG and the Now and Next guide (press i+) both take over the whole screen! This is rubbish. Do other DVD Recorders/PVRs with integrated Freeview suffer the same problem? |

The Humax 9200 doesn't - you get a picture that is rather less than a quarter of the screen whilst browsing the EPG. It's often a matter of personal preference about what people want. If you are fed up watching the current program why do you want to still watch it while searching for an alternative? On my Topfield PVR the (alternative) EGP is full screen but shows 10 channels at the same time with 3 hours of programming per channel. The selected program is described in 5 text lines on the same screen. Other alternative Topfield EPG screens can show more channels on the single screen. The native Topfield has an EPG screen with a quarter size image but with only 4 channels shown at the same time. The now/next takes up about quarter of the screen with the full picture behind it. -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |
