My HLS6188 manual also says you cannot connect a PC via HDMI connection. I tried hooking up a Mac Mini via HDMI using a conversion cable. Works fine, although I ended up using the TV PC input for the Mini. I think the newer TV's are looking for the HDCP signal. Mac Mini probably generates the HDCP signal, and a PC can't unless it has an HDCP graphics card. |

I looked at theTV's manual and it says, "You cannot connect thisTVto aPCviaHDMI/ DVI." Why would it not work? What is theTV'smodel #? HL-S5087W I've got the 56" model hooked up using a DVI to HDMI cable from a PC. There's no real problems except a ATI driver bug that requires the refresh to be set to 75 hertz to fill the screen at 1080p. It was easier for me to setup for 1080p or adjust for overscan at 1080i via HDMI then vga. |

I have one digital AGP card that even gives the choice of NTSC or PAL (ATI all in wonder...forget the number). |

NTSC and PAL are chroma modulation techniques and only apply to composite and S-Video connections between a video card and monitor. The terms do not apply to component or digital connections. David |

My Samsung HL-S4266W has the VGA port as well as 2 HDMI ports. Then
manual says to connect a PC only with the vga port. I tried both and they both work for me. My question is: which one provides a better HD picture? |

Any comment we (I) might make would just be speculation, or at best, theory. BTW, I have a Samsung DLP HDTV, and I'd be very interested in what you think, since I don't have the option to try both (yet). My thought is that the HDMI would be better.... but that's only if your PC video card can output digital (DVI). Charlie Hoffpauir http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~charlieh/ |

Charlie Hoffpauirhttp://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~charlieh/ I did not do extensive testing and so that's why I was asking the question. Is VGA analog or digital? I know HDMI is digital, right? So assuming VGA is analog, would that mean HDMI would be superior? |

VGA is analog and HDMI (or DVI) is digital, so everything else ignored, I'd think HDMI should be better. But often what "seems" right doesn't work out that way in the real world.... My question is: which one provides a better HD picture? The HDMI connected at 1280 x 720 x 60 "should" give you the best picture as it would be digital, 1 to 1 pixel mapping and require no scaling on the sets part. VGA at the same 720p output would require the set to do a A-D conversion because VGA is an analog source. I've got a Samsung 1080p DLP set and the difference between VGA and HDMI is not one that would deter me from using the VGA, I choice HDMI because it was much easier to setup. |
