Default Connecting PC to Samsung DLP with DVI to HDMI conversion cable.

I am currently connected to the DLP with 15-pin D-Sub and would like
to use the DVI out from GeForce 7100 instead. I looked at the TV's
manual and it says, "You cannot connect this TV to a PC via HDMI/
DVI." Why would it not work?

I don't know, might be incompatibility, but see if the TV has a DVI
connector. Most computers are hooked up to the TV with DVI.

Why? Just curious. Mine works great with a VGA cable.

I looked at the TV's manual and it says, "You cannot connect this TV to
a PC via HDMI/DVI." Why would it not work?

Don't know. Wouldn't care if the VGA port works.

It would, if your graphics driver supports 720P, 1080i or 1080P output. But
it's kind of tricky to make it work when you can't see it on the screen
while adjusting the driver, Not to mention some TV's HDMI don't work and
needs reset due to copy protection and light intrusion. That's probably why
most manual says it doesn't because they don't want their call centers
flooded with such calls.

Try set to 720P first with a regular monitor. And then turn off the
computer, disconnect the monitor, connect to the TV using DVI=HDMI cable
and turn the computer on. You may have to wait for a while because you may
not be able to see the boot up screen because it uses a different
resolution.

The most worrisome possibility is that it would refuse to talk to your
computer video card due to HDCP copy protection. I believe there
are now video cards with HDMI outputs.

My HLS6188 manual also says you cannot connect a PC via HDMI connection. I
tried hooking up a Mac Mini via HDMI using a conversion cable. Works fine,
although I ended up using the TV PC input for the Mini.

I have one of my computers hooked up to my Samsung using the 15 Dsub and
have no problems with that setup. I'm curious why you want to use the DVIout
to hook it up? The refresh and other things could be way different and maybe
unsettable.
