Has anyone used the X10 iconRemote? www.x10iconremote.com

I want to control my TV, DVD player, Digital Cable Box, and TiVo. I
like the look of it, but I am unfamiliar with the company.

Any input is welcome.

I own one... It works well, but doesn't offer any more functionality
than a Marantz RC2000; which is widely available on eBay for around
$30 and is *much* more solidly built. The X10 is a little flimsy. The
icon direct tuning is a cool little gimmick, but you're limited to 10
stations.

X10 are also prolific spammers. Something to consider if you plan to
do business with them.

There was something to all the OverSelling on their web site that made
me think that. LOLOLOL

The remote looks cool, I've had great succes with one of the One 4 All
Universals, unless you have other X10 in your home theater, This one
will work anything. If you can't get it to work, call their number.
They have you put your phone next to it to program from the
component's info. I forget the exact model #, but any of their near
top of the line models should do, and for cheaper.

My One-4-All URC 8910 (about $30) works great HOWEVER my wife didn't
like it. I now have a Logitech Harmony 676 Advanced Universal Remote
($119) and although it requires a few extra button pushes to use, it has
an LCD screen you can use to label buttons. This was easier for my wife
to use as she can now see (on the LCD screen) that she is in 'TV' (or
DVD, RECIEVER etc.) mode.

Just be aware that the Harmony comes with a Love-Hate relationship.
I love using mine, but the web based setup software is a monumental
pain in the patoot. See my review at:

I ordered and received the X10 Icon Remote in the last week.
It works well with my two DirecTV DVRs once I figured out how
to have all of the favorite icons work with either DVR.
This capability is not described in the user instructions.
User instructions are seldom adequate for feature rich devices.

Display icons are limited to 10 per display screen, but multiple
screens are available under each name. When you have more than
10 display icons, the bottom right item is "More".
TiVo products are handled well by the X10 Icon Remote.
Does the Marantz RC2000 have keys labeled for TiVo?

I wouldn't call an Icon Remote flimsy since it is as sturdy as any
remote I've owned and is more sturdy than some of them.

I'm not certain what you meant with the spammer statement. I used to
receive product news e-mail from X10. When I asked for them to stop,
they stopped.

What was the workaround for two of the same types of DVRs?

I'm going to have the same problem soon.

Here are the lines in the "Advanced - Device Codes" menu page...

DVR 0738 0038 DV1
0138 DV2

DVR 0738 code is the default for a single Philips DirecTV DVR.
It is used as a virtual address for Icon Favorites.

DV1 and DV2 are used to address the first and second generation
Philips DSR6000 and DSR7000 DVRs.

Icon Favorites are set up to use "DVR 0738". I used the DVRs
address setup to configure DSR6000 to use remote address 1 and
DSR7000 for address 2. The Philips User Guides describe
how to configure DVR remotes for unique remote addresses.

I was using two remote controls for the two DVRs until I received
the Icon Remote. The Icon Mode screen is used to choose which
DVx address to control, effectively picking the remote address.
I never select DVR on that screen.
