Default Sharp Aquos 32 inch + HD antenna HELP!

So I bought an indoor HD antenna last night (made by RCA) and tried to
install it - it seemed pretty simple, just plug it in and then run the
coax cable to the antenna input on the tv. Simple. I did this and
turned the tv on and flipped over to the menu where I had to do
something to program the tv (I have no idea what I was doing, I was
just following the instructions in the TV manual). So I hit menu and
flip to setup and there is a Digital Antenna menu option but it is
greyed out - if I try to move down the menu to this option it skips
right over it. It's as if the antenna isn't even connected. Does
anyone have any idea what could be going on? I would say it could be
the signal, but if it was the signal, wouldn't the Digital Antenna
button still allow me to click on it? Plus, I live in LA so I'm
assuming my signal isn't that bad. I also checked that website that
everyone recommends and it seems to think I should have a pretty easy
time getting a signal.

Sorry this post is rambling and slightly incoherent, I am slightly
deficient when it comes to HD antennas.

Can you post the model number of the television?

Weird! I checked the manual, and there seems to be nothing
out of the ordinary to it. Do you get any picture at all
with the antenna connected, analog or digital?

Before you go into the Setup switch the input on the set to the TV-cable
input, select TV from the TV /Cable option then run auto channel memory.
