Afternoon.
Had a search through the group but couldn't find anything definite. I'm currently on Telewest for tv/phone and net but I want to get HD since the telly can cope. Telewest only has one HD channel but Sky have more so I'm thinking about moving the tv only to Sky and keeping the phone and net as it is. I've seen in various places that Sky boxes need a phone connection to work, is this the case with Sky HD? If so, does it have to be a BT line or could my Telewest line be used? I don't really want to run another cable round the room since the TV is the opposite end from the phone socket and we decorated last year so don't fancy having to redo any of that either! Doesn't matter who you're telephone provider is - as long as the box can call home and can identify you, i.e., you have to have CLID disabled so they know its you who's calling. |

Sky only really police multi-room, though is best to let Sky installer plug box into the phone line and then remove it when he has gone. It can be any working fixed landline, when we had Sky Digital installed 1 Oct 1998 we had a cable phone line, it was no problem at all. |

Will the installer run a new phone line from the phone socket to the box? If so, I can just get him to not attach it to the wall then remove it once he's gone? Thanks again. -- Doug "Doug's cool. Sky installers don't do anything they don't have to. If there isn't, he'll probably give you an extension lead of the very cheapest quality. No, he'll staple across skirtings, doors and walls with medium quality cable actually. ![]() Still don't see the need to unplug the box as sonn as the installer has gone though. -- Regards, Stuart. |
