H264 and X264 HD showing up alot more these days. Sometimes I see a
gorgeous H264 HDTV broadcast (ts) that I would like to convert to DVD (mpeg 2/vob). I can imagine this would be sacriligious to most here, but I sometimes want the best source for the best DVD and HDTV certainly has that. My question is how to convert H264 TS (or raw/ac3) to MPEG2 or VOB. I have experimented with software from DVB-Portal and SVCD2DVD but its the product is usually very jerky (and this is not a hardware issue, at least I don't think so). I'm experiment now with solutions using graphedit and various encoders. Still, if anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks. |

I have tried HDTVtoDVD, the successor to HDTVtoMPEG2, and it does not
yet handle H264 (I believe the authors have said the next major release of SVCD2DVD might include H264. The vintage of HDTVtoMPEG precludes H264. HDTVtoDVD works like a charm on non-H264 broadcasts (TS). I love TMPGEnc xPress 4, but it does not handle H264 TS. Thanks very much. When I do, from HDTV captures, I use ConvertX. It supposedly accepts a number of formats as input, I've no idea whether H264 is among them. They have a free demo which watermarks the output. I could make an H264 from an HDTV capture and test it, but I know you'll understand that I'm not going to ;-0) |
