Default presenting pictures on TV with DVD player?

Is there software that will allow one to create a DVD to present still
pictures from a digital camera from a DVD player on the television? Im
hoping there is software that will takes .gifs and organize them and burn a
DVD that can be played in a television DVD player and allow a presentation
of the pictures to be managed by using the DVD player/remote.

thank you for any insight!

Plenty of software. In fact most software that will burn/make DVDs
will have some option like this. I have two options that I really
like, Adobe Premiere, and Nero Burn ROM 7 Ultra Edition (http://
www.nero.com/nero7/eng/Products.html), free trial. Nero is great for
quick and easy picture adding, drag and drop several photos at once,
and will even automatically produce chapters on the DVD so you can
control it like a DVD.

Adobe Premiere is more of a movie production piece of software that
can add transitions and effects to pictures or digital video footage
added from a camcorder. It is not as user friendly initiallty, but is
much more powerful in the long run.

I have used others but I will recommend ProShow by Photodex for
presentations using a DVD player. I found the software easy to use
right out of the box and I think it is priced reasonably. I am however
unsure of using the .gif format. Everybody is gun shy of using that
format these days.

You don't want to use .gif files. This is not 1982.

You have 2 options for this
1.if your DVD player supports JPEG/GIF formats you can burn pics in
Data DVD format to any standard CD-R or DVD-R.
this provides more pic quality and flexibility.

2.Tools such as "muvee autoproducer" allows to create video files out
of pictures with different presentation styles, music etc. which can
be burned as DVD-Video and will be playable on all DVD players.
