How come CBS is so inferior to other channels in HD...the picture on the
NCAA basketball final isn't close to as good as on other channels, such as
ESPN.

I also work in a store where we sell HDTVs and the standard def braodcast by
CBS is awful in comparison to other channels.

What's the story with CBS?

You didn't say what the source signals were for any of these, so how
can anyone comment?

Does your local CBS station multi-cast with multiple SD sub-channels?
What is their call sign (so I can look them up)? How are you getting the
signal: OTA, cable, or satellite?

The picture quality on the two CBS stations I can get is excellent. If
your local CBS station has only 1 SD sub-channel and a static weather
type channel at that, then perhaps they have an older model encoder or
one that is poorly configured.

The CBS over the air signal here seems generally excellent.

Are you watching CBS HD over cable? Do they compress it more than over the air?
Does your CBS channel run subchannels? What station is it?

I don't know about the basketball games, but generally the CBS station here does
a pretty good job as far as quality goes.

You need more info.
Where are you?
Are you talking OTA or cable or Sat?

He works in a store that sells HDTVs. I think he might be the guy that
sold my aunt a TV.

I hadn't found that to be the case at all.
March Madness looked great on my Westy.
Of course I was getting it OTA. What
was your source?

I believe CBS is 1080i where NBC and FOX use 720p. Maybe it has to do
with what local station they are rebroadcast from? CSI Miami is stunning
here in St. Louis...

Fox is 720p, but NBC and CBS are 1080i. BTW, I don't like the
way that CBS does CSI Miami. The colors don't seem correct.

CSI Miami's look is from the folks who produce the show and has
nothing to do with CBS. All the CSI's have a slightly odd look.
