Default vga verses rgb.. Which one ?

Having just bought a replacement LCD tv and using it with an ageing
Panasonic TU-DSB30 Sky sat box, on which the box has the option of
either Pal or RGB in the picture set up menu. Can some one please
explain the difference and advantages / disadvantages one over the
other of PAL or RGB. Which is best ?

Lastly is it possible to update the Panasonic firmware...If so, how?

Thanks

PAL isn't VGA - it's just PAL.
RGB will give best results - the 3 primary colours that make up the picture
are transmitted seperately to avoid interference - whereas with PAL it's all
stuck down a single wire with the degradation that brings with it.

the satellite box firmware should update itself as required - just leave it
to it....

You've got VGA - or rather vga ;-) - in the subject. But I'd guess you do
mean PAL since it's in reference to a STB.

Have a look at both via a SCART cable. If you can't tell the difference,
why worry? RGB gives the best results, though.

Dunno if there's nothing in the menu.

Google this group (or check the FAQ) for details of how to force a
firmware update, but be aware that one of the Pannys (and i'm fairly
sure it's this one) won't update ever again if it misses an update :=((
