Several years ago our local NBC affiliate redid its news studio giving it that wide open HD look. Too, bad they continue to squeeze it into that dinky SD screen. I guess the station owner forgot to budget for the cameras. ;-) -- Rick Evans --------------------------------------------------------------- Lon -71° 04' 35.3" Lat +42° 11' 06.7" |

Bob I suppose that you prefer the "real" news from Fox, and the balanced "reporting" of Bill O'Reilly, or even that female impersonator Ann Coulter. We definitely need more Americans that agree with their point of view, that's for sure. Phil |

I tend to watch a little of all the news services including the BBC when I can. If you want to see some really slanted ( from my viewpoint) news, watch the English language broadcasts of Al Jazeera ( http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exer...BBE2A36665.htm Available on Ku band in the clear in IA5 at 97W. james |

We definitely need more Americans that agree with their point of view, that's for sure. Phil No actually I watch all the available news media to try and get all perspectives to what is going on. I have no particular "favorite"...there are 2 sides to every story but it has gotten much harder to get unbiased news regardless of the format or network. Watching both political parties go at each other so early in a presidential race is already getting old. There really isn't a place where an independent can get much news unbiased. All the networks and cable channels seem to have one agenda or other. But from my observation NBC and MSNBC have gone too far to the left...even CNN with Wolf Blitzer's sneering attitude towards anything to the center or right, not to mention Lou Dobb's contempt for almost anything lately. CNN's ticker constantly running the casualty count is not necessary and Chris Matthews's show has been nothing but democratic cheerleading and Sean Hannity is way to far right for me. Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough I enjoy watching, Sheppard Smith's show is pretty straight forward news. Glenn Beck at least admits that he's conservative and I can live with that and he does have some interesting takes on things. It really bothers me when the slant is obvious ( right or left) and it is presented to us a "reporting". There are wacko nuts on both sides...Ann Coulter and Al Franken shouldn't get any air time IMHO...and I ignore all that type of shameless self promotion. Bill O'Reilly has gone both ways on many different subjects and I respect his views unless they get too radical, which they do some times. I remember a time when the FCC mandated equal time for both parties and in a way wish that would come back. Then maybe we could get some unbiased news from around the world. Just watch some of the BBC news perspectives and it removes all doubt why people who use that as their main source think the way they do. Any way...back to HD...I could care less if the news is broadcast in HD. Our cable system doesn't even have ABC HD...the last 11 Nascar races are going to be on ABC and I'm spoiled with Fox's HD Nascar broadcasts. Sorry to be so long winded... ]Bob |

When Al Jazeera started out, the tone was barely distinguishable from Soviet era TAS and objectivity was nonexistent. Only after they became a virtual Pariah within the news community did they adopt some reasonable journalistic standards. A_C |
