Got a new Mitsubishi hdtv today, and I am unable to remove the CC from the
high def channels. No matter what I do, it remains and is a pain to watch with it on. Before I call for a service tech, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what did you do to correct it? My settings are set to no CC. TIA -- Instead of raising your voice, reinforce your argument! |

TIA Are you using a Set Top Box or DVR from a cable or satellite provider? If so, you should turn off the CC option in the STB because in digital systems, captions are generated by the receiver/decoder which is what the STB is. If, on the other hand, you are using the internal ATSC or QAM tuner in the TV, there may be a separate captioning on/off option in the tuner setup menu. Alan F |

If it is a Motorola DVR, turn the box off and press menu on the remote or front panel. This should bring up the setup menu which will have options for 16:9 (HD), 4:3 Override (SD), and closed caption output. The Motorola DVRs and I believe the STBs, put the captioning controls into a special setup menu and not the regular menu. Alan F |

Thank you very much as I would have never known about this menu as the cable provider did not furnish a manual. Again, thanks. |

Thank you very much as I would have never known about this menu as the cable provider did not furnish a manual. Again, thanks. Comcast. Should have figured they would not provide a manual. When I was with Comcast, calls on even simple technical issues to the first level CSRs were almost always of no help. Fortunately, the net and valuable resources such as www.avsforum.com are available. If you have a Motorola 64xx series HD-DVR, save this link: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_...rola_DVR/Setup. It has a LOT of very useful technical info you may need to look up sometime. If you have a HDTV, you should double check that the HDMI/YPbPr OUTPUT setting is 1080i (recommended for most) or 720p. Also, I hope the HD TV is connected using component, DVI or HDMI cable or you won't get HD. Alan F |

The cable provider is Mediacom, not Comcast, but probably not a lot of difference there. |
