Default What Resolution to set my V+ Box

Hi,

I have a new plasma tv (42") which has a resolution of 1024 x 768.

I have a Virgin Media V+ box connected to the TV via a HDMI cable.

My V+ box has a setting where the output can be 720 or 1080 or 720 wide or
1080 wide.

Should I set the output to the lower or higher number and as the TV is
obviously widescreen can I presume the 'wide' option is the correct one.

Regards

Steve

Doesn't it have an "auto" option? I get a much better picture letting my
Regza TV scale SD rather than let my SKY HD digibox do it. Then again I get
a much better SD picture via component than by HDMI. HDMI lets far too much
detail though for most crap SD broadcasts but it's great for HD.

that's true of any tv - watch a decent quality 14" regular tv - if you can
find such a thing, and it will look a lot nicer than the same picture on a
28" regular tv - never mind a 42" plasma.

I'm just thinking, I bet 1024x768 looks really **** at 40"?

it's a higher res than SD - some owners would argue you wouldnt
notice that it's not quite there.
plus you have a nice big picture to look at.

Does it suffer from worse picture the bigger the size?
Like if you have a 26" LCD and a 32" LCD both at 1366x768, the 32"
picture may actually be worse than the 26" version.

I would say so, yes.

Thanks Welcome.

it's probably meant to be 1024 x 720.

Hi,

I have a new plasma tv (42") which has a resolution of 1024 x 768.

Is that the right resolution for a 42" screen?
