hi
i have seen on a few occasions a cheap dish, and decoder offer from lidl where it seems to imply point the dish at one of the satelites in the sky and you will get loads of chanels to view without the requirement of cards. what i was wondering however is i have sky set up in my house and it is still hooked up to a paid for sky account, but if i unplugged the sky decoder and put in one of these lidl ones would i get any chanels broadcast from the same satelite that the sky dish is aimed at ? as its a standard sky dish if there was channels to get would the dish be big enough if it was using one of these cheap boxes ? any ideas what sort of chanels i would get (if applicable) or if i used the dish that came with the lidl offer would i be better aiming for one of the other satelites rather than aim for the same one as sky is aimed at, again would the signal be any good, channels etc ? my location - central belt of scotland thanks |

See the FAQ. If you cancel your sub then your existing box and card will provide more UK channels than any non-Sky box can. Also a TVGuide that non-Sky boxes do not provide. I would not buy non-Sky boxes for normal UK TV reception. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. That's why I told you to read it. i did not say i was going to kill my sky account i did not specify that i had to get only uk based chanels i am not bothered about getting a tvguide on the box Maybe you should have been a bit more specific. what i am looking for is infomation about what would happen if i plugged in one of these types of boxes to the wires feeding my sky box instead of using the sky digibox would i get any reception? Yes. would i get any chanels and would the signal strength be enough using a dish designed for the sky box? Yes. what chanels are avail without subscription or a card from the same sat that broadcasts the sky chanels? As I said, you will just get the same but fewer channels with the Lidl box. The only way you will get more channels (and few of them are both interesting and in English) is to point the dish at another satellite. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
