Default got a phone call from Sky customer services somewhere in India

He wanted to know if there was anything they could do to get me to subscribe
to Sky again, am I not missing any of their programmes? I said no, as I've
seen all their repeats already anyway. Honestly, after three weeks of
freesat and freeview, I can say hand on heart that my tv viewing pleasure
has not been affected one iota by cancelling Sky. The odd programme I miss
that I may have watched is no big deal, certainly not worth the extortionate
prices Sky charged, when compared to the free channels. Anyone thinking
about cancelling Sky, go for it, you will not be disappointed. You still get
loads of movie channels and sports on freesat/freeview. And if you use Sky+
and only watch recorded programmes like I do, check out how many of the
programmes on your planner are not available for free.

I presume you kept paying £10 per month for the Sky+ functionality
then? I ask, as that is my plan.

Also - I'd be interested to hear how your downgrade went with respect
of your Sky card retaining the full range of Freesat channels - I've
seen varied reports - some people say it went successfully, others say
they lost the encrypted Freesat channels and had to buy a £20 Freesat
card to replace their old Sky card.

This should only happen if a card is cancelled for non-payment, or
reported stolen and even then it probably wouldn't happen.

I have never seen a UK "house" subscription card that hasn't become an
FTV card when the subscription is cancelled correctly.

Do you need to pay £10 to Sky to record programmes when you could use a DVD
recorder instead?
