The infernal North American new date for DST change: most program guides
were botched (off by one hour or one day!) ... report to me what damage you saw in your areas. |

Our partners in the UK dialed in an hour late for a conference call today. That's about it. Matthew -- I'm a consultant. If you want an opinion I'll sell you one. Which one do you want? |

We were told about the new DST date 18 months ago. Seems sufficient time to prepare. Only 'gotcha' so far is the 'time.windows.com'. Seems as of this morning (3-15-07 11:23 PST), it STILL is wrong. If that is NTP-based, it won't do anything about DST. NTP doesn't distribute the DST flag, only the UTC time. WWV (used by radio clocks) does include the DST flag. The main difference is that NTP is worldwide and doesn't know the DST dates for your area (or even what your area is), but WWV is a United States product and only needs to know the DST dates for the United States. |

Everything was fine in southern Nevada. Cable boxes, cell phones, computers and radio clocks all changed over. Bob Walker |

My satellite provider had some problems with it, even moving me to double daylight time for a bit (putting me on MDT, aka CST, even though I'm on the west coast). -- Dave Oldridge+ ICQ 1800667 |

GG As an NTP server, it doesn't deal with local time, it sends UTC. It also doesn't deal with DST. If it had been set off of UTC, it would have been severely broken. The UTC time from it was correct when I checked. If your computer was not be properly set to understand the correct offset from UTC, the result displayed would have seemed wrong. Alan |
