Default Home Video Distribution

Hello all,

A friend is after setting up a home video distribution system.

Two sources, a multimedia PC tucked away upstairs along with a Sky+..
Three outputs; two plasma TV's & surround systems and a normal Hi-fi.

Quality of the system is the most important, so sending everything about
the place wirelessly or with RF would be a no-no :-)

There's plenty audio distribution systems on the web, but I'm struggling
to find one that'll do video. Anyone have any recommendations?

Looks as if it can only handle one source at a time, though - or am I
missing something? Presumably the OP wants to distribute *both* sources at
the same time, and select which one to watch on ecah individual TV?

The only way of doing that over video wiring is to have a
remote-controllable switcher and an infra-red extender to control it -
he would need one for each room and preventing the extenders from
interfering with each other would be a problem.

There is a system about that'll do something very similar to that.
I've only got paper based literature on it, somewhere in the office.
IIRC the manufacturer only supplied to pre-approved installers, i.e.
not a DIY system.

Was your friend wanting this to be a slef install project?

Hi Lurch,

Thanks for the reply. At the moment, he's open to either self-install or
getting a company in to do what he wants. If you've any links, companies
or other pointers I'd appreciate them.

Many thanks to Roger and Roger too.

Information on the web is a bit scarce, it does have some very
flexible configuration options wrt sources and where you can send
them.

If you have a location for him there are a couple of people available
for install that I know of.
