Hi there,
I am about 10-15 miles away from this transmitter and the aerial is pointing directly at it. http://www.ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=SZ447865 its a new high gain aerial made for freeview. I have got issues with 2 of the muxes. I have issues with channels 30 and 32 (MUX A and B). They are the highest frequency of the whole freeview spectrum. Why am i having issues with these stations and not the others? I do use an AMP to pull the signal in, but that works fine. Could it have issues with the other 2 frequencies? Many thanks Stuart |

You could be overloading the receiver with BBC 1 analogue on Ch 31. That could be splashing over and corrupting reception of the two muxes each side. Is a high gain aerial *and* an amp really needed ? Do you have a clear view of Rowridge ? Is your aerial in the loft, or outside ? Where is your amp, near the receiver, or fitted near the aerial ? What is the quality of the four analogue channels like, particularly BBC 1 ? -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. |

The TX from Rowridge has been playing up for the last 3 or 4 days, either something is up with the transmitter or atmospheric conditions are affecting the TX. I'm in a very marginal part of the TX area, officially we don't have DVB, two nights ago all DVB channels were un-watchable. |

Aerials advertised as being for freeview or digital and sold as high gain are probably nothing better than normal TV aerials - unless it's a vastly overrated Televes DAT75. |

Many thanks Stuart You need to give us some more information "A high gain aerial made for Freeview" could mean anything, even a set-top aerial could be described that way. Assuming it's a largeish aerial outside or in the loft, is it the correct aerial group for Rowridge? ie Group A. If you got the aerial from one of the national DIY sheds, remember they often stock only widband (groupW), and in your case this will not be ideal. Also, I don't know why you say MUX-A and B are the top of the spectrum, the ukfree.tv page that you linked to shows they are not. -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |

are probably nothing better than normal TV aerials - unless it's a vastly overrated Televes DAT75. I don't think the DAT75 is overrated. It's got the best forward gain and front-to-back ratio of any wideband aerial on the market. That's a fact. How important that is depends on where you live. For me, living at Felixstowe, I've got a very weak signal from Sudbury (officially I'm out of the Freeview area) and a whole load of crap hitting the back of the aerial from Holland and Germany. I've tried three aerials, with and without masthead amps, and the best performance by far comes from an unamplified DAT75. Thack |

Many thanks Stuart Do you really need an amp to "pull the signal in"? How bad is this aerial, where is it fitted? What are the issues? Quickest solution - buy an aerial of the correct group, fit it on the roof, correctly aligned, with a new download, bin the amp and you'll be sorted. PS: Channels 30 and 32 are not the highest frequencies "of the whole freeview specturm"!! They happen to be the highest frequencies used in your area. |
