Default Cancelling Sky - are payments made in advance?

Are Sky TV payments collected in advance or in arrears?

Only, I just called to cancel my subs and was told that it would be
cancelled on the 5th April, as they require 30 days notice. This I
understand, but they still plan to take one final regular payment, which
comes out on the 10th of this month.

Assuming the payment is collected in advance, they will actually get a
months money from me but only provide 25 days of service?

I could cancel the Direct Debit before the 10th of course, but they could
get nasty. How long after a bounced Direct Debit would they cancel my
service anyway, and could I argue that - as I had arranged to cancel the
contract - I had no wish for them to continue to take money?

Been a customer for nearly 5 years - so I can't find any of my original
paperwork to see what I agreed to..

TMK in advance .

But if you do overpay and they owe you money - getting them to refund it
is almost imposible .

I canceled sky about 2 years ago and they owed me £10 , To cut a long
story short i gave up after several phone calls and after several months
as the cost of the phone calls was mounting up .

If i asked what the problem was and why they couldnt do a simple £10
refund to my bank account they would only ever reply with a simplistic
answer like 'dont know' .

I wrote the £10 off to experience .

Wonder if sky would have such a casual manner about it if the situation
was reversed and it was me who owed sky £10 .

If you ever get this sort of problem again contact your MP. I have done
this on several occasions and once when a utility company was messing me
around I was compensated £40 for my telephone calls.

Can't you reclaim the payment using the Direct Debit Guarantee?
