Default Buy HD TV

I am looking to buy an HD TV. However, I am quite sure whether, I will buy
an LCD, Plasma, DLP TV. Can anybody tell me the strength and weakness of
each of these three before I buy it?

Thanks

LCD (non-projection) and plasma have the thinnest form factor. DLP (and
projection LCD) provide the biggest bang for the buck. LCD and plasma
are still pretty expensive, plasma still suffers burn-in. DLP and
projection LCD have light bulbs that have relatively limited life spans
(5000 - 8000 hours) that require periodic replacement. DLP has a color
wheel that can get noisy and/or go out. DLP and projection LCD have fans
for their light bulbs that can get noisy and/or go out. Some folks can
see headache causing color flashes trailing moving white objects on DLP.

After considering all of the above, I went with a 65" Mitsubishi 65732
DLP set. Got Tweeter to match HHGregg's $2217 price over the New Year's
weekend.

If you are prepared to do some serious reading, try
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=9. Lots of useful info
along with different opinions on all matters related to digital and HD TV.

As for your question, it is not a simple one. All three technologies
have trade-offs and the choice depends in part on budget, where you will
use the TV, how big a screen you want. In my personal opinion, the best
overall picture quality, other than for a high end CRT, is found with
the better plasma brands such as Pioneer and Panasonic. If I had to buy
a replacement HD TV right now, I would probably get the 50" Pioneer 5070
plasma. Best 50" plasma in the sub $4K price range.

And for less money, but for many people a preferable picture, a Samsung
plasma.
