Then Sky lied to me, because they said the only way to change to radio channels is with Sky Plus. That's correct, but WITH a subscription! Your question was what would happen without a subscription. |

"Edster" wrote in message ... So it will automatically change to radio channels on a timer with a subscription? That's not the impression I get from other replies. It won't normally "change" to a radio channel but it will record a radio channel. There are circumstances where you can force it to change channels but it's awkward. You could force it to change to the radio channel by recording something concurrently, that started at an earlier time, while you're watching something else entirely. When it's busy recording channel "A" and it then has to record channel "B" it switches the second tuner (the current TV tuner) to channel "B". This is because it can't record channel "A" and "B" and let you watch channel "C", as there's only two tuners in the box. Also it's not a seamless switch... you'll get a warning on-screen message that you need to cancel a recording to continue watching channel "C" - the warning lasts for a few minutes, and only if you ignore that warning does it then switch automatically. If you happen to be watching a playback, however, then it won't automatically change viewing channels -- as watching a playback doesn't require the use of a tuner so it doesn't need to 'disturb' you. What're you trying to achieve? If it's automatic recording of different radio channels without a sky + subscription I don't think that's possible. There are some freeview boxes with built-in DAB tuners and multiple-event timers -- they might be what you're looking for but I can't guarantee they record radio. Search for Goodmans GDB5. Or if it's just radio, you can try one of the DAB radios that can time-record to SD cards: search for Pure Evoke-3, Pure Bug, Roberts Gemini RD1 and there are some others, I think. |

"Edster" wrote in message ... Mike Henry wrote in message So it will automatically change to radio channels on a timer with a subscription? That's not the impression I get from other replies. "No, because it won't change automatically to any channel" if you don't have a subscription. There is no timer ("Autoview") if you have no subscription on the Sky+ digibox. How many times would you like to go around the loop? :-) Read the question again. If I had a subscription would it change to radio channels or not? Some replies say it will, some replies say it will not. It would probably be best for everyone if the people who don't know and are just guessing or assuming didn't reply. This is the only thing I would be subscribing for, so I would prefer to find out for definite before I pay. Ok, to be absolutely clear on this... Sky + has no standard "autoview" with or without a subscription. It was not designed to automatically switch the channel you're watching to a different channel. You can however, record any show to the Sky + hard disk. You can record radio programs as well, via manual recording (i.e. specify a specific time, day, and duration, and optionally choose a repeat option - every week, every day, weekdays). You can archive recorded programs - including radio recordings - to a tape or DVD recorder by simply playing the recordings and there's a 'copy' facility on the Sky + planner which automates the playback of several programs to facilitate this. But copy-protected content can't be archived this way. Hope this clarifies. |

Sky+ will RECORD from radio channels (onto its own hard disc) with a subscription. Sky+ will not "CHANGE" to radio channels, (i.e. turning over, live) either with or without a subscription. -- |

I would, but I'm not a big fan of Radio 3, and everything else on DAB sounds ****e. A DVB-T card in your PC will record the radio channels just fine & the quality is superior to DAB. For even better quality use a DVB-S card & hook it up to your dish. -- Nigel Barker Live from the sunny Cote d'Azur |
